Then actually I get off cheaper that you do; my 1-ton truck's tag is only
about $24.  Dunno how much the Hyundai is gonna be yet.

Book value on the Hyundai is $2900 so the tax would be $232 +$20 for the
tag, at the rate you pay.  But, I suspect that you only have to pay it
once, I have to pay the ad valorem tax every year.
