Charles, FYI, I'm 45, and where I come from, (Southern California), 31 years
ago, $3.00 an hour in 1966 was quite a bit of money. I didn't start making
that much on my regular jobs until 1973. (Not from the generosity of the
people overpaying me.) When I was mowing lawns, I was lucky to get a buck an
hour for it. (Large lawns, and large expenses in the area.)
Costs vary greatly depending upon the region where a person lives. I don't
know what housing costs or anything else costs where you live, but I'm sure
that the idea of paying #650 a month for a studio apartment in a slum to you
is rediculous, but here it's a fact of life.
In the 1950's and 60's, both my parents had to work to afford a house, and to
put my sister through college. This was at a time when jobs were many and
workers few. Now the situation is reversed, there are few jobs, and
multitudes are looking, (in this area).
Don't judge others by your circumstances.
