Yeah just as MS was being ridiculous with it's view wrt toy computers known
as "IBM PC Compatibles"

No reason why not.

&? Does your laptop have a terrabyte disk or is 1 TB limited to desktop
machines i.e. those with an "external power supply"? If so then a
docking station is a docking station whether for a phone or a laptop.

doesn't make it a PC.
Indeed not just as USB2 on a PC does not make it an AIX server.
However the phone is already a personal computer, it's just not "IBM
PC compatible".

Indeed just as a lack of RAM made a difference wrt the PC. Who needs more than 640K ?

Most MP3'es used to require a PC to play them. Now most MP3'es are not
played on a PC.
Equally most homes on broadband now have some little device which manages
the connection inc firewall, routing, port mapping etc thus lifting that
burden from the PC.

get rid of your PCs.
Why get rid of? There is going to be a need for a "home server".
It may well be a more laptop tech based device than your std
tower/mini-tower etc std PC.

Oh I am. I think 5 years will come in 3 as per usual.

phones will continue to increase.
Hurrah.

I am just about to post an example on this thread.
