Concerning _PRO 46_, Tom Walker said to John Morse in SCANRADIO:

I must have missed your original message, or I would have replied sooner. I
own a PRO-46, and have been very happy with it, although I ran out of
channels way faster than I thought I would!
I'm writing up a report based on a (eventually) successful modification of my
PRO-46, which I'll probably post here. However, it's not finished yet, and
may not be much use to you depending on which version of the PRO-46 you have.
As Tom stated, the date code (that plain white sticker below the rest of the
information on the back of your scanner) is the key.
In the meantime, try this little trick: Turn your squelch down a notch lower
than usual and try a LIMIT search in the 851-917 MHz range. The best time to
try this is around lunchtime or around 5 PM. If you're close enough to the
towers and your PRO-46 is as bad with images as mine is, you might be able to
pick up images of cellular calls out to 21.7 MHz above and below the cellular
base-to-mobile range of about 869-896 MHz.
If you decide to try this, please let me know what happens!
"Better" scanners I've tried like my PRO-43 or my friend's Bearcat 200XLT
don't seem to have this "feature".
