subject: More Speed

RD> I have a Tamiya Toyota Pre-Runner which runs with 1700 Sanyo battery
RD>packs, Buggywald motor, Duster esc, full bearings and Futaba electrics.
RD> What I am looking for is a bit more speed. Can anyone suggest a
RD>different setup (motor, esc) than I already have?
Lucky for you I so happen to own a Tamiya 4WD sedan that uses the same
TA02 chassis. How do you find the truck? Have you ever raced it in a
dirt track? If so how was the performance compared to the buggys and
stadium trucks racing?
Here are some suggestions to go faster:
CHASSIS
clean & lubricate bearings, gears, add in a HPI one-way bearing,
universal joint shafts, use replace existing parts with lighter ones
made out of aluminum/titanium/carbon fibre, use the right shock setup
depending on running surface, a variety of pinion & spur gears, good
tires for the surface you plan to run.
ELECTRONICS
use top of the line esc from novak/tekin/m-tronics, a kinwald 11-13 turn
motor (a bit psycho but you asked for more speed),
deans/litespeed/sermos connectors, 12 guage wire used everywhere, matched
batteries.
This will make your car go faster guarenteed but it should empty your
pockets aswell.
