Yeah, I know that, but if you're concerned with overall data transfer
speeds its useful to know what the fs is actually capable of, if only to
confirm its not a problem.
Some filing systems - think early Windows FAT16 - were notorious for
slowdowns caused by file fragmentation. While this doesn't seem to be a
problem with Linux ext2/3/4 filing systems, it never hurts to check when
you're looking for data transfer bottlenecks.
