So, you never do a system update?
As druck says, that copies a fairly large amount of data to the filing
system and reports the speed as it does so. As such its a fairly reliable
guide to the actual performance of your network link and filing system.
If you need to know filing system performance, download, compile and run
bonnie++. Get it from either:
https://doc.coker.com.au/projects/bonnie/
or
https://sourceforge.net/projects/bonnie/
