Well, I figure if we take care of the offline messaging "door"
then we're well on our way to you learning gcc via the ncurses library.  I
thought we could take the difficult route first, via a scripted solution,
to get that point.  That way we both get to learn something out of this
exersize.  I am still fighting the urge just to take the easy way out and
use Perl.  :-)
