You might want to read "Voyaging On a Small Income" Anne Hill, ISBN
0-9610396-5-5. This book goes way beyond "living aboard" and has
lots of good ideas about many different aspects of life on boats.

There are lots of good boats for living aboard and voyaging that are
quite fast, the will generaly rate poorly however. If you are more
concerned about first to finish and having fun than handicap racing
you can do well.
The biggest mistake most people make is getting a boat that is too
big and filling it with lots of expensive stuff.
It is usually better to go with a small, solid and simple boat with
a very easy to handle rig.
The junk rig is a very good choice. Refer to "Practical Junk Rig"
H.G. Hasler and J.K. McLeod.
When in doubt, choose a smaller boat and a bigger anchor.

... Diving, a great reason to wear that nifty rubber suit.
