subject: Which version of C?

Dear C enthusiasts,
I am looking at buying one copy of C for a stand alone installation
for educational/teaching purposes for those wishing to move on from pascal
to C.
Can anyone advise what would be the best version and/or dialect
for about early university type of students ?

With thanks
Kevork
