thanks, I got that, and it seems to have fixed the lockup.  Unfortunately, 
it's still timing out on retrain with one specific caller.  He's using a 
Practical Peripherals 28.8 VFC.  He's the only one I have trouble with, and 
I'm the only one he has trouble with.  Any ideas what would cause that?
