I don't think we can place all the blame on the Vole, though that was a
very if not the deciding factor. IBM screwed up with OS/2, consistently.

 From the fragile install through stupid binary INI files to complex and
odd fixpak methods, IBM couldn't have made OS/2 harder if they'd tried.
While OS/2 was more stable, it was never really an end-user friendly OS.

Maybe someone will patch an OO desktop into Linux, but IBM is the last
organization one would want to see in control of any big Linux changes.
