Sorry, you did not notice JAM areas before.

I read "problem with synchronet JAM areas" but "work great" doesn't match to

JAM is a per area messagebase files. If synchronet can do squish then you could
try to change one area from JAM to squish and see what happens. If golded can
read squish based areas without problem then i would suspect the problem in
synchronets JAM handling.
