CTTY has *NO* advantage over DOORWAY other than being free. DOORWAY
allows you to drive almost all fullscreen text-mode programs, whether
they write to the screen via DOS calls, BIOS calls or direct access to
the video buffer. CTTY, on the other hand, can send you ONLY output
that is written to the screen by the relatively slow DOS calls, which
most of the DOS command processors use but which most more advanced apps
such as any text editor better than EDLIN do not.
Doorway's modest registration fee does away with that 10 minute limit;
I allow myself 32767 minutes and haven't come anywhere CLOSE to that yet
:) . It was the 2nd piece of shareware I ever registered (right behind
Qmodem back when John Friel owned it) and it's been worth every penny
many times over. A few years back, I ran a BBS 100% remotely on a
system located 4 towns away. My partner in that venture, who owned and
housed the hardware, did the hardware maintenance and backups while I
did the SysOpping and all the software maintenance. I even upgraded the
BBS software to new versions a few times "on the fly" via Doorway ...
try your luck at THAT with CTTY!
Cheers ...
