As faras what PCS will do in Canada, the technical possibilities
of the system will probably have much less to do with it than
what the marketing departments want it to do.
As I said, as originally envisioned by Bell Cellular, PCS would
work within 50 feet of a sign saying your pcs works here and
would not hand off to other sites.
One system no one has discussed is one Philips proposed where you
could have on-site cells within say a plant and outsiders would
have their calls passed through to the network, but people with
cellular phones in that plant would have their cellular phone
work like their office phone, complete with abbreviated dialling
of extensions and access to company network.
Seems c.r.t.c. did not like the idea.
