I don't think companies are at any greater risk now than they were.
Assuming you do break in and deactivate all their desktops, all they have
to do is re-enable automatically via their KMS after shutting the hole you
used to get in.

Basically, it'll only affect people (home and very small business) that use
Microsoft for key management.
