You post in the old usenet here via the "new" Google web
interface. Usenet is far older than for example WWW.

Anyway, the Google reader isn't very good, but I seem to recall it
automatically quotes. You might also consider replying after the lines
you quote, and trim the reply, as I do here (nothing to trim here
though ;-). But that's not mandatory.

Yes, there are also topics about programming here.

That (try to run you off) might still happen today, but many folks have
left the usenet and it got somewhat friendlier now.

Anyway if you intend to read write more often you might want to consider
using a newsreader instead of using the Google web interface. Some mail
readers also have newsreaders included. Like Thunderbird (Firefox'
brother). If you already use Thunderbird you're almost set already. Just
need to sign up for an newsgroup (usenet) account. In the old days almost
every ISP offered usenet access. But that changed. Check whether your ISP
is still among those offering usenet access.

Others here might also know third party companies offering (free) usenet
access.

Of course you still can use Google instead.

I use a Unix based operating system, which means I get laid almost as often
as I have to reboot my computer.
