Hello Bruce!
Thank you for your answer.
BW> What're you using for memory management software?
I use Memmaker (DOS 6.0), Himem and EMM386.
In my first message I said I have to disable extended memory when I want to
load WP and Polyglot, but I was mistaken. I thought NOEMS (included in my
autoexec.bat) meant No Extended Memory, but "E" must mean Expanded.
When I start WP with the /ws switch, it tells me there's 259k convential
memory and 4936k extended memory.
BW> How much of your conventional memory is left after Polyglot loads?
108K convential memory is left.
BW> Can Polyglot be loaded into extended/expanded memory?
I don't think so.
BW> What (if any) command line switches are you using with WP (especially
BW> those concerning memory use)?
Normally, I start WP with the /r switch, which loads WPFil into extended
memory. WP works quicker this way, I think. I don't use this switch when I
want to load PG, because then I run into trouble very soon.
BW> Plain 6.0 DOS was a bug-ridden disaster, with the subsequent A, B,
BW> and C interim releases improving the situation.
Up to now, I have not been plagued by many bugs. But when the system halts
while I'm working with Polyglot, there is NO backup-file when I restart the
program. This of course is a very nasty drawback.
Bybye,
Ellen
