Yeah, Comcast upgraded to DOCSIS 3.0, promising greater speeds. The catch?
They'd install a router, on MY NETWORK, that I didn't have the password to and
that shared my bandwidth and IP address on their XFINITY_WIFI publicly
accessible network. No thanks!

It took a couple of calls, but any carrier provided equipment can be put into
"bridge mode", where it passes on its IP to your equipment.
