Cheaper OS?  JQP doesn't buy the OS, he buys the hw/sw package from Dell,
BestBuy, etc. and Dell, BestBuy, HP aren't going to push Linux because
there's no incentive for them to do that.  Sure, it's "free" but
the per unit cost of Windows (whatever release) is still going to be so low
that it won't be a make/break part of the purchase decision to people who
don't even know what an OS is.  To you, to me ... sure, it's part of the
selection criteria.  But denizens here are a minority of the purchasing
public.
