Thank you for the peek into Bardroom. I need to add it to my
"recommended"
list on my website.
May I assume that Bardroom is also on majordomo{at}tantech.com . . . and I
ought to send the message subscribe bardroom
?
(Meant to get back on there some time ago. Life intervened.)
I glanced through things and kind of got the drift of a couple of
threads. Bombing run:
Quinn: Ignore those jealous types. This is one of the functions of
the Writing Tavern--comisseration. Sounds like the usual people who have
nothing better to do with their time than surf around finding people to put
down. Ptui.
Pamela: I was shocked and saddened to hear of the loss of the Senator, his
wife, his daughter, and his staff. Aaack. I hate flying and think the
risks are scary (except on a broom with a certified witch, or on the back
of a flying horse or dragon, or by other magical means, such as being
turned into a bird!) Hope things turn around soon, although only
time, time, time can begin to heal these hurts. And even that isn't
terribly effective.
Somebody: did someone submit a story fragment for critique? Did we ever
talk about it? Did anyone else ever talk about how they construct
novels? I have been struggling with this house-sale mess. Wotta mess, but
we did accept the lowball offer, thinking that the economy ain't on its way
up, and that we ought to pull that line out of the water while we still
have a live one on the hook! Who knows when we might get another offer,
what with the holidays and stuff.
Bragging: I sold a story, "Cartoon Logic," a mystery, to
DETECTIVE MYSTERY
STORIES. They're a tiny new mag out of Seymour, Texas, but they've had
tales from various nationally known authors, and plan to have more. My
story will be scheduled sometime next year. It's nice to have a market to
mail things to aside from the ubiquitous Alfred Hitchcock's and Ellery
Queen's (both of which are edited by basically the same staff, as I
understand it, in the same offices) and the fanzines! For more info or to
subscribe, go look at the website.

It may not be considered a major pro market, but it pays and is not a
fanzine and is not an e-zine, so, whatever. Several of my anthology sales
have been to small press markets, but it's fun to have the books on the shelf.
There is now a new Sword and Sorceress anthology coming up. Does anyone
have something appropriate for that market? I can post the info. It's
usually invitation-only, but one of the editors said she'd be open to subs
from other pros. Don't know quite if that means "us," but why not?
