I'd recommend reading Walter Jon Williams' "Voice of the
Whirlwind" explores these themes. and does peachy.

My stuggles are secondary to survival.  but compared to people who can
flawlesslt duplicate a living human being,  I am still too close to my
stone age Irish ancestors (true, this was last week,) to have a proper
point of view

Also,  google for "Transhumanism"  and see what they have to say
