I'd leap to kick his ass,

And I would, too.  I'd never authorize a duplication experiment unless the
follow through was carefully considered. If this bozo turns up out of the
blue like that then that means he's taken liberties with my body and
likeness, and that this duplicate is a person in the midst of being
fearfully abused. All the details can be figured out after Mr Wizard
catches his fair share of boots to the head, his lab is in flames and all
of his research subjects are running for the hills.

Personally I'd consider this sort of duplication an act of procreation and
consider it just as carefully before I got involved with it.  more so,
since the normal kind of procreation is a lot of fun to practice.
