More confusion has arisen....apparently the Searchlight BBS software in use 
where I post uses the backslash character as a control code for colors and 
other functions.  Therefore it "eats" backslashes at times and does not pass 
them on.  Hence, the original message may have had the two backslashes as 
required, but I only got to see one of them when it passed through 
Searchlight.  Similarly, my reply, in which I typed TWO backslashes, may have 
reached you with only one...or none.
