Check with your college and see what they might be able to suggest. I know
the college I attend _does_ have _some_ provisions for sight-impaired
students
but I don't know what all is involved. (For example, I have seen ads looking
for volunteers to read textbooks onto audio tape.)

Ironic story. My Dad used to be in the Merchant Marine and whilst at sea had
a lot of spare time on his hands. He bought a machine and transcribed books
into Braille. A few years before he passed away he lost his sight and had to
read by using books transcribed into Braille by a new generation of
 volunteers.

I don't know how big your college is, but I'd check the Anthropology section
 of the library.

That's a good idea. What is unfortunate is that most institutions (colleges,
libraries, etc.) tend to focus on _local_ peoples, not distant. For example,
I'd be more apt to find information on Northwest peoples than, say, the
 Seminoles.

Oh, and that wouldn't work real well for me. I was born in Southwestern
China. Very few people have even _heard_ of the Lisu and Lahu peoples.

DM> This was much more than that.

You're welcome. And if you have any questions, holler. Oh, and don't forget
to check with your Libraries about InterLibrary Loan (ILL). Even if they
don't have a particular book, some other library might.
 Jim
