Unfortunately, the lower priced used ones usually do need some work. But if
you get a usable trailer from it, with a minimum expense because you can redo
it yourselves, then you have gotten something from it all.
My parents bought my husband and I a tiny travel trailer for a wedding gift,
18 years ago. It served us well for two years and then became more of a
burden than something useful, so with their permission, we sold it and bought
a piano. (That has served us well for many years, and is now providing a
partial living for me, and my parents are very pleased for us.) Anyway, the
trailer needed some work - a new fridge, and some other smaller repairs. My
dad was able to do some of them and replaced the fridge for us. We got back
for it what they paid for it and the fridge together, and had a lovely
downpayment on the piano.

Boy, I hear ya there. However, in my business, I need to stay with the school
vacation periods as much as I can, closing my studio (music) when the kids
are out of school.
> So have you definitely committed to homeschooling?
I'm committed...whether the family budget will commit is another matter (to
be determined between the end of this month and the beginning of October; the
kids will probably need to start in public school but I'll pull them out if I
can. It's not the best way, but it will perhaps be the only way - our budget
won't allow me to quit my morning office job until there's other income to
back it up...)
