I am seeking other people's views on visual literacy. Visual literacy is
basically the ability to critically 'read' images. The importance of reading
visual images has never been given much importance in Australia in any of the
curriculum areas. I am currently writing a thesis on this issue. I have cited
some theories on reading visual texts and am currently doing in school
research in the area. Would anyone share their experiences in different
states or hopefully different countries on what emphasis is given to visual
images? I thiNK children should be taught explicitly about visual texts and
therefore be more critical in their reading of the images that surround them.
I would really appreciate anyone's views on the topic even if it is
contradictory to what I think. Are visual images given any emphasis in other
state/countries curriculum documents??? Do you think they are important???
Do you have any questions that I could try to answer???
THANKS I'LL RETURN YOUR MESSAGE
