IPC will probably have OS dependant code for some time.  Under Unix /
Linux, I would suspect pipes or a shared memory segment should work.  I'd
have to look up what was implemented for OS/2.....

If we can get MEX working, I'd hold off on this, or make it a code branch
so we can choose either MEX (main branch) or MECCA (side branch).  

But this is just my thoughts.....  By now, you've probably already decided
what to do....
