Are you sure? 'Cause I read that AIFF is, in fact, not a file system at
all, just a series of tracks. It is only displayed on a computer that way
for convenience (so you can find the beginning and end of a track).

Also, there are no other encoding options in iTunes. It's either AAC, Apple
Lossless, or AIFF (or MP3, which I don't want).

Oh shit. I'm going to scream. Please beleive me when I tell you it was set
to Audio CD from the get go, from day one in fact. The PREF settings is not
an issue (at least not that one!).
