Hello Heidi,

One of my woman friends from college admitted while we were all
hanging around that, in the states, was popular at the time
for the woman to say she wasn't interested in marriage at all
as some kind of liberation ploy.  This even applied to many
"traditional" or normal women for the time (this was 20 years ago).

Even if the guy was really hot to them, the ladies were culturally
conditioned to play it cool or even cold to play "hard to get."
