subject: 4.1 remote user connectio

-> I need to connect 2 users via modem to my 4.1 net. I have been
-> searching for information about that in the handbooks, but I haven't
-> found anything. I know how to use Rconsole, but what I need is to
-> connect "regular" users.
RCONSOLE and the ACONSOLE you mention are both for administrative access
to the server console, and won't suit your needs. What you are looking
for is remote control of a network node OR remote node access.
Remote node access is provided through add-on or third-party products in
the NetWare 4.1 environment. Novell offers NetWare Connect, which runs
on a server and allows dial-in, remote node connections.
Remote control is a more popular approach, where users dial-in and take
control of a workstation existing on the network. This method is
typically faster, and has less risk to the server. Examples of this
would include PCAnywhere.
Remote control can be more expensive than remote node if the remote
users must dial-in while all of the existing workstations are in use,
because you would need new computers. If, however, the dial-in will
occur when computers are available (nights, for instance), remote
control software is cheaper than remote node software.
Hope that helps.
