subject: Video Camera Questions

I have a Panasonic AG455 SVHS camcorder currently, but think I may be needing
to upgrade to a 3 chip camera. I have noticed that what truly sets some of
the higher end brodacast shows apart from what I or many other videographers
shoot is the depth of field in the picture. During an interview for example,
the subject can be sharp and clear, while the background which is only a few
feet behind the subject is blurry. This focuses the viewers attention on the
subject itself. The only way I can achieve this affect on my camera is to be
far away from the subject and to zoom in. You can see how unpracticle this
can be. My question is : Are there any SVHS cameras that have this depth of
field function (does it have something to do with the shutter?) or is this
function limited to higher format recorders? My next question is : What
would you reccomend for lighting that could be attached to a full size camera
(AG-455) and provide enough illumination to light up rooms in a house if you
were to video tape them? I would like to get something that is going to
function forprofessional work, yet won't break the bank either. Any product
names or locations of where I could demo them would be great.Next Question:
This has to do somewhat with the first question (upgrading to another
camera). I have read about the Panasonic SuperCam but have never seen it
used. I was wondering what the cost of it is and whether somebody who has
used it would reccomend paying the price to upgrade from a Panasonic AG-455.
If not, would you reccomend going with another brand or model instead? What
about mixing Hi-8 and SVHS in a two camera production? Would this look
horrible on the edited master tape? Well I hope these all get answered.
THey are legitimate questions I dearly need answered. Thanks in advance.
