Lisa is correct. But as for the opposite reaction in children as opposed
to adults, that is not true. Ritalin, or any other stimulant will have the
same effect on an ADD/ADHD adult as it does on an ADD/ADHD child. The most
common explanation for ADD is that the brain does not produce enough
neurotransmitters (specifically dopamine). Ritaln causes the brain to create
more of a couple types of neurotransmitters (dopamine included), which allows
the ADD/ADHD brain to behave more like the so called normal brain.
