Nope, a RedBook CD is actually one continuous data file, beginning to end
of the recorded area, with markers embedded in the data that is read.

When you look at a CD in an explorer mode in Windows, you SEE the
individual tracks as Track 1, Track 2, etc, because the Table of Contents
is read, and the start points are determined.

In iTunes there is an option to select "Audio CD", instead of the
various file formats (MP3, AIFF, Apple Lossless). That's when you extract
tracks to the hard drive, or into iTunes. When making a CD, you create a
playlist with the tracks you want, then select BURN, having set the BURN
option in the Preferences/Advanced/Burn area to Audio CD. (I looked prior
to posting the last message). iTunes will take any supported file format
(AIFF, WAV, Lossless, MP3), and convert on the fly to 44.1/16bit
"RedBook" audio CD format, which should make a disk that's
playable on any CD player.

Still sounds like you've selected one of the data file format recording
modes, that will make the files into whichever format you've selected, but
it burns a DATA disk with those files on it, instead of a normal Music CD.
