When I ran Max under OS/2 the heap figure included Ram AND free HD space 
allocated for swapspace which in my setup was all available. When the HDD had 
more than 2gb (I think) of free space I did get similar numbers coming up.

My solution having an uptodate ish fixpak installed was to reduce free HDD 
space to below 2gb (where 1k = 1024) and this got rid of this and other 
problems that some programs refused to run because of free space limits below 
500mb.
