Except that the Windows tax at the Dell/HP/etc. level is trivial ($10-$25)
especially wrt entry level "home" OSes. At that point it becomes
a case of "an
extra $25 for a machine with Windows? Sure, why not." JQP doesn't see any
difference between Windows Home and Windows "All the
functionality" since they
don't know and don't care about the functionality.

If that $25 really made a difference then hundreds of thousands of Linux (you
choose the distro) machines would be walking off the shelves and appearing in
homes and under Christmas trees.

I know of *one* non-techie person who has a Linux machine. I know several who
have Macs and I know loads who have Windows. (I also know of one or two who
have have OS/2 ;-) )
