What would it take to add Internet capability to
Geoworks Ensemble/New Deal Office? "Shag" made
some comments about that recently in comp.os.geos

I don't recall anyone saying that it would take a major rewrite, Celtic.
If you wanted to retrofit GEOS 2.x with Internet capabilities, _that_
would take some heavy programming, and I believe that's been said. Of
course, David Hunter is working on that right now. :)
If you wanted to create a version of Ensemble that used GEOS 3.0, all
you'd really have to do would be get a system running GEOS 3.0 and copy
all the Ensemble apps and libraries onto it. Remember - GEOS 3.0 is
backward compatible with GEOS 2.x.
So in actuality, all NuCo really needs (and I see people are _already_
confusing NuCo, the company, with New Deal Office, the product, just
like they did with Geoworks, the company, and GEOS, the product) is to
get 3.0 onto the desktop, copy the Ensemble apps over, add a few apps
for Internet functionality, and maybe throw in some improvements to the
existing apps, driver selection, et cetera. That's a substantial amount
of work, but it's certainly not a major rewrite of GEOS. The major
rewrite has already been done by Geoworks, in creating GEOS 3.0 (though
2.0 was a far greater one).

We also have programmers that have released some pretty cool stuff -
even some who've done so without having the SDK! *waves to a German or
two* :)
