I not too long ago found a Gateway Pentium III 450Mhz
tossed out shipped in 1999.

As it had the serial number Gateway's web site had a huge volume of
information on it.
Very standard and stout hardware.

I'm running Linux Slackware 10.2 on it and it plays movie DVD's
and rips MP3s from music CDs
384 Meg of RAM and a Voodoo 3 AGP video card.

Best machine I've ever owned by a wide margin and free to boot.
Not rebooting is something I rarely ever _need_ to do anymore :-)
