JM> i know that freebsd can handle the isa bus and over 16 meg of dram,
JM> how does os/2 'cope' with that sort of a setup. i am assuming that
JM> your 486dx4/74 is isa and not local bus .. i have a local bus'd
JM> 486dx33 that i could (would) put more memory in if i could be certain

The DX4 had two VLB slots, one with video card -Trident 9440. I ran it with
up to 16 meg and it ran fine, tried it once with 32 and it was great.
JM> does anybody know where i can get fp v5, (in australia, would be nice)
JM> and how much fiddling is involved .. my warp connect v4 is straight
JM> out of the box do i need to install any previous fixpacks ?
MH> I can suggest two BBS's in OZ that should have it, they are IBM
MH> Sydney (02-9899-8311) or if they don't have it yet I've got it
MH> available here for d\l or freq. from me its called XR_M005.rar
MH> (18mb) and WKICKR.RAR (1.3mb). From IBM its XR_M005.1 thru EDK (14
MH> disk images) plus WKICKR.zip
JM> i will try the ibm one first .. if i get the same sort of problems
JM> that i got 2 years ago i wll be quequing at yours for file request
JM> privaledges, does your modem support 33k6 and is it possible to d/l 18
JM> meg in three hours, umm telstras 7 to midnite (week days only, this
Yes I do do 33k6 and can usually maintain 12mb/hour. As I have recently
rebuilt the BBS after trashing a HDD and haven't received any freqs since
please let me know if you have any problems.
JM> has changed my calling habits) $3 std all over australia call.
watch out for this, the deal was supposed to run out at the end of Nov, I
thought.
MH> You only need to get the latest released fixpak, they are
MH> cumulative so FP5 includes FP1-4 as well as new fixes.
JM> with v3 some of the early ones were single issue fixes and you had to
JM> have the previous ones installed .. as best as i can remember.
All PUBLIC release fixpaks were cumulative for v3, there were some unofficial
releases of test fixes and a fix that was only required to run the beta of
Lotus SmartSuite that were exceptions.
