Yes, it does vary with the font.  Some just don't react well, or may have
pre-compensated screen versions which ClearType just thickens up
ludicrously. And I don't think it helps Type 1 PostScript fonts, if you
still use those, just TT (?and OpenType?).

It's already affecting Web design.  The _New York Times_ recently went to
MS Georgia, and it's nice, until you try to read the NYT on a Win2k
flatscreen that can't use ClearType, and things go all spindly.

Vista is supposed to help this stuff a bit, in addition to forcing
developers to get the system text, ALL OF IT, in the little boxes, dammit,
for those who use large fonts.  Maybe that'll be partial compensation for
the loss of our birthright and the enslavement of our firstborn, etc. (g)
