Hello Heidi,

I've married a "foreign" woman and I can tell you that are "true"
women and have many of the same characteristics of American
women including mood swings.  Airline tickets and travel
does cost money and could easily pay for 10 first dates with
local American women.  There are horror stories out there
and cultural differences that also can test the relationship.

All of that said, it's amazing that MORE of these unions don't
dissolve!  A 20% difference in divorce rates is amazing especially
when you factor out the abvious Green-Card marriages and
those doomed from the start.

In the states, it's probably safe to say that most of marriages
appear to be well blessed from the start.  That's what makes
it so scary: You see people who are all happy about getting
married and then they're divorced 5 years later.  What happened?

It's not for everyone but there are advantages to dating a foreign
woman (or man for that matter): They can offer cultural perspectives
that make fascinating dinner conversation.  You get your own
free "ethnic" restauranteer. :-)  Men from many cultures are
far more "chivalrous" than American men including holding open
women's doors and attention to fashion (American men wear
those white socks with black shoes. :-)
