Wendy.......
 WB> Hi Dottie!
WB> Pat has some quilts her mom made, several she herself helped
WB> with. Lots of church ladies got together to quilt them.
My church in North Dakota had a ladies guild that got together and made
quilts for the missions. That is where my love of quilts was born. I too
wish that I had paid closer attention to their crafting...I could have
learned so much from them. One year I remember that they made over 100
quilts to send to the missions. I was working there as a Parish Secretary
so only got to check in on them as the worked in our church basement.
Looked like so much fun. They really had a "Quilting Bee" going (they were
busy working like bees and buzzing in warm and funny chatter).
Once a year the ladies guild would have a craft fair in the church basement.
It wasn't real large as crafts fairs go back here in the East coast, but
there were many lovely things crafted with lots of love by the church
ladies. Many things that I had never even thought of trying before were
brought to my attention there. Rosemaling (sp?), tatting, of course there
was lots of crochet and knitted items as well as hand sewing and quilting.
WB> I think maybe I should've been born a hundred years earlier than
WB> I was. These things sound so neat to me!
I know just what you mean. I have a real fondness for the "Victorian Age".
My dream home is to have a Country Victorian reproduction home built on the
property that my grandfather homesteaded in Woodward Co. Oklahoma as soon
 as my husband retires.
When we travel we always try to stay in a B&B which is preferable
a old Victorian home. I love the crafts of that era. ONLY wish I could do
them. The paper crafts especially intrigue me. It seems that they could
make the most ornate items from the most simple materials. The needlepoint
and crazy quilting are so beautiful. If I could have picked the timeframe
here on this earth, it would have been in that era.
Great to chat with you Wendy.
Happy Crafting!
see ya
