Well the Marx Bros were East European immigants.

Mike Myers was born in the UK, his dad was English and loved British
comedy, and then his family moved to Canada.

And isn't Steve Martin also Canadian ?

Anyway it is more the style, the ability to see the quirky side of life.

I think some of the scenes in "Man with Two Brains" for example
would not look out of place in a Python film.
