Exactly!  And since it is already *BUILT INTO UNIX*, why add an overly complex
piece of absurd kludge-ware to duplicate what UNIX has already been doing for
the last three decades as part of its native OS?  You have re-invented the
wheel and introduced needless inefficiencies, when you could just let the OS do
what it was designed to do in the first place!  SEE: STTY, MAP, TR, SED, PERL,
Filters, Device Special Files.  Stop trying to re-invent the wheel!  UNIX is
available and it works.  Let it do what it is designed for!
