The DVD-A or SACD versions sourced from less than stellar versions. All of
the recordings had been transferred to 16bit 44.1 3M Digital in the early
80's, and the analog 2 tracks were in horrible shape when I remastered the
material for re-relapse on regular CD and then the Citizen Steely Dan box
set. Back at the start of DVD-A stuff, we were asked to re-master several
tracks and re-capture at 24/96, but the 3M tapes were having trouble
playing at that point.

That's one of the serious archive issues with the various digital audio
formats, long term playability, as well as being able to read the old
formats chosen years ago to record with.
