*Thanks* for the extended response, Chris. I'm downloading from
several sites as I write this, although it may be a few days before I get
to do a real install.

I did get Caldera installed some time ago but it was unstable on my old
system and eventually rusted over.  I do want to become
knowledgeable enough to actually use it in production this time around.

I very much appreciate the tips, especially the networking ones. One
question comes to mind...what do you use for anti-virus protection? I don't
think Symantec has one.
