Yeah, it's true.  Things are worse there than here.  But I think New
Hanover and Pender Counties are the worst off of all.  I have to keep
monitoring the police and ham channels just to find out which roads are
still passable (a week later) because of the flooding.  All the water
that got dumped in the Cape Fear River in Fayetteville and places
upstream is starting to arrive down here now.
In the last week or so, the scanner has been my main source of
information of how to get around in the local area and what conditions
to expect, far more so than any broadcast radio or television.  It has
become not a luxury or hobby, but a necessity under the conditions here.
