It sure looks like her public position matches the letter. The public
position
openly discusses her first phase. Why is it that you can't accept that their
public position represents their public position and not the whole agenda?
The
anti abortion folks went after late term abortion because they knew support
for
those was weakest. The stated views of the organizations are often milder
han
their personal views (as demonstrated in interviews) because they know that
they
have to work up to their ultimate goal.
I happen to agree with the magazine ban, the AW ban and the ban on private
handgun
sales at gunshows. But, there is no way I'd give HCI more political power by
publicly supporting them on these issues.
I've talked to them and their associated organizations and know what their
goals
are. A former member of the Center to Prevent Handgun Violence (CPHV) ,
associated with HCI, now works for a county commissioner here. They recently
tried to push a bill that would outlaw firearms (transport past , storage in
locked possession) within 500 feet of a "gathering place of children". This
included school bus stops, pizza parlors, in home day care centers, green
ways,
parks and playgrounds. The bill would have made it impossible to own a
irearm
(or
airgun in this county) in any neighborhood with children in them. All major
neighborhood corners in this county are school bus stops.
In the interest of giving respite to those no longer interest, I promise that
this
will be my last posting on this. (no matter how "head in the sand" the
response)
