Why? If that's the only Broadband available in your area, most people just
bite the bullet and take the Cable path. Simple, easy, etc.
The problem with DSL, as others have mentioned, you have to be within a
certain distance from the Central Office for DSL to be operable, OR there
has to be a large enough potential subscriber base for them to install a
remote DSLAM (the business end of the DSL).
I don't know anything about the area where you live, but if it's more
sparsely populated, it's entirely possible you're outside the coverage
area.
