Most people don't give a hoot about those with good pitch sense.  Yea, it
does up the pitch, but that's part of the allure I guess.  It's all
"relative".  If everything on a given station is sped up X%, then
the songs relative to each other sound correct.  It's typically not done on
a song by song basis, but to the whole overall music, all selections.

There are tools that will "time compress", which can speed things
up, but keep the pitch the same.  The work OK, depending on the material. 
On many kinds of music you can hear the time splices being done.  It's also
very CPU intensive (or DSP intensive if it's done in a dedicated DSP chip).
